The segment near the skin and tip end should be submitted for culture

Days Performed: Monday through Sunday

Times Performed:

* Set Up: All shifts, 24 hours a day

* Cultures: Read on Day Shift only (0600 - 1430)

Turn-around Time:

* Positive cultures are reported as soon as an organism is detected

* Negative cultures will be final at 2 days; a preliminary report is filed on day 1
