Testing may be run on plain red tube at Benefis Healthcare, but if the test is reactive and a confirmation is required Mayo requires an SST serum tube (gold).

Red Top or Serum Seperator Tube SST (Yellow)

Specimen Handling and Stability

Handle and store specimen in stopper containers to avoid contamination and evaporation.

Centrifuge specimen to remove serum from cellular elements after collection.

 

Specimen Stability

* Room Temperature - 8 Hours

* Refrigerated - 48 Hours

* Frozen - Extended Duration ( No thaw cycles recommended)
