Special Instructions

There are two types of Heparin Anti-Xa testing, Low Molecular Weight and Unfractionated. Please order according to the appropriate medication that the patient is on.

Handling and Stability

Blue tube must be filled to the line.

 

If unable to process immediately, send platelet-poor plasma frozen to -20C or less.

 

To obtain platelet-poor plasma: centrifuge, separate plasma, recentrifuge, and separate plasma into a transport tube.
