Turn-around Time: Pinworm exams are performed as the specimens arrive, if the specimen is submitted after 1430, it will be evaluated the following morning
Special Instructions
The sticky side of a Pinworm Paddle is applied to the perianal area to collect the eggs. An early morning sample, before the patient has bathed or used the toilet, is optimal. At bedtime before the morning of collection, make sure the anal area is washed free of creams or powders.
The specimen can sit at room temperature for several days.
