Container / Tube: NP swabs and washes should be placed into Universal Viral Transport Medium

Specimens obtained early in the course of illness will contain the highest viral titer.

Specimens placed in viral transport medium following collection can be stored for up to 24 hours at room temperature or seven days at 2 - 8°C.

Times Performed: All shifts, 24 hours a day

Turn-around Time: Run time of approximately 35 minutes
