Special Instructions

Specimens are screened for beta hemolytic Streptococcus, in particular Group A (Strep pyogenes), Group C and Group G.

Testing Schedule

Days Performed: Monday through Sunday

 

Times Performed:

*  Set Up: All shifts, 24 hours a day

*  Cultures: Read on Day Shift only (0600 - 1430)

 

Turn-around Time:

*  Positive cultures will be reported as soon as a beta-hemolytic strep species is detected

*  Negative cultures will be final at 2 days with a preliminary report on day 1
