Test Code GIPCR Gastrointestinal Panel by PCR (with Lactoferrin)

Important Note

Formed stool specimens will be rejected. The testing of stool from asymptomatic patients is not clinically useful.

Testing will begin with the Lactoferrin assay and if the specimen is positive, testing will continue with the Gastrointestinal Panel by PCR. Specimens that test negative for Lactoferrin will not be tested with the GI Panel.

Infectious

Specimen Type: Stool - must be an unformed, diarrheal specimen

Container / Tube: Clean, airtight container (raw stool)

* Stool preserved in Cary-Blair transport media may also be submitted but raw stool is required
